Colorado Highways: Non-State NHS Roads

This page is a list of roadways in Colorado that are not part of the state highway system, yet are part of the National Highway System. The NHS was created in 1995 as a replacement of the old Federal Aid Primary and Federal Aid Secondary systems. You can rest assured that any roadway that is part of the NHS is a major roadway, but in some cases are not on the state highway network. In Colorado, streets that fall into that category are city and county streets in metro Denver and metro Colorado Springs.

• [9] Bowles Ave. continues as NHS east from Platte Canyon Rd. as part of SH 75.
• [10] Broadway has Lincoln St. as its one-way couplet pair from I-25 to 20th St. (southbound on Broadway, northbound on Lincoln). The NHS pair also by necessity includes 20th St. from Lincoln to Broadway, where northbound traffic returns to two-way Broadway.
• [11] Buckley Rd. continues as NHS north from Alameda Ave. as Airport Blvd.
• [12] Church Ranch Blvd. continues as NHS east of US 36 as 104th Ave.
  
• [13] Park Ave. West has 22nd St. as its one-way couplet pair from Wazee St. to Broadway. However, NHS maps show only Park as NHS.
• [14] University Blvd. continues as NHS south from Hampden Ave. as part of SH 177.
